SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of scrap steel warehouse. Each shift may have a Group Leader and each is independent of the other, however, day-to-day communication and cooperation among Group Leaders is essential. Individual Group Leaders report directly to Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures all plant employees conduct operations in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures all plant areas meet safety requirements.
- Monitors overall performance of receiving, inspection and shipping functions.
- Monitors and controls inventory, storage layout and design.
- Participates and provides leadership for preventative actions to reduce and/or eliminate waste and quality problems for stored product.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining work instructions, process procedures and standards for plant functions.
- Participates and provides leadership for the continuous improvement program (kaizen).
- Assists in developing self-sufficient preventative maintenance program.
- Assists in implementation and monitoring of GMI environmental matters.
- Prepares and presents various reports as requested by management.
- Promotes goodwill of company at all times.
- Assists with interviewing for plant positions.
- Makes recommendations to Manager for training needs, performance reviews and any potential disciplinary actions involving team members.
- Travel may be required based on company need.

EDUCTATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two year degree from a college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
