SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for providing administrative and operational direction to GMI, Inc. Resource Management and / or Waste Management in handling scrap, recyclable, non-hazardous and hazardous waste generated from the process of building automobiles. This position is responsible for supporting the administrative, operational, and reporting requirements of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, as pertaining to GMI business operations. The responsibilities of this position include assuring the applicability of the Environmental Policy, monitoring overall Environmental Management System (EMS) performance, assuring regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in the protection of the environment and reduction of pollution from the activities within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees and provides direction, coordination, and evaluation of multiple locations in multiple states consisting of both metals and non-metals facilities.
- Ensures programs are in place at all locations to carry out production and service operations to GMI operating and safety standards.
- Participates in training and development activities designed to prepare for future assignment to the next level of management, including pursuance of associates degree and participation in GMI University.
- Overall responsibility for safety within operations assigned; ensures all locations have developed and implemented safety and environmental programs for the protection of employees and assets and regulatory compliance within their area of responsibility.
- Proactive involvement in operational safety to include, reviewing and approving safety incident reports prior to local operation submittal to corporate; follow-up on development and implementation of incident countermeasures; and personal attendance at safety committee at various operations with regularity.
- Develops annual financial budget; monitors and takes corrective action to ensure all operations are performing at or better than annual budget.
- Responsible for achievement of annual/monthly location budgets.
- Authorizes and monitors quotes and purchase orders for materials and supplies within granted authority for materials and supplies.
- Authorizes and monitors service contracts within granted authority.
- Develops and leads initiatives to maintain existing business and develop new business expansion opportunities within their area of responsibility.
- Directly supervises personnel involved in managing operations, developing business opportunities, and maintaining customer service standards within their area of responsibility.
- Other general management responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and/or is actively acquiring Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Significant operations and business management experience of at least five years. Personnel supervisory experience using positive employee relations principles and applications. Basic competence with personal computer business applications.
