SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager of Green Metals, Non-Metallic Division, (GMI NMD) North Carolina, this position will require an individual committed and knowledgeable in safety and environmental compliance, waste minimization for Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) and the surrounding On Site Partners (OSP). This position requires attention to detail for regulatory compliance with the EPA, DOT, OSHA and all other local, state and federal organizations related to the position. Responsibilities also include managing the Environmental Management System (EMS) performance/waste minimization and the Green Metals ISO 14001 program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- ISO 14001 compliance, management and updates by deadlines as required by GMI corporate.
- Document control for EMS.
- Understand waste characterization forms and chemical SDS to create and maintain waste profiles.
- Manage and maintain compliance of the Central Accumulation Area (CAA) hazardous waste storage through EPA and state regulations, including weekly inspections.
- Complete hazardous waste manifests and Bills of Lading for shipment to disposal vendors.
- Competency reviews (testing, observations, audits) and training record maintenance.
- Database maintenance for regulatory compliance and cost assurance.
- Preparation of waste management cost reports.
- Assist in maintaining visual aid and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for various projects.
- Maintain Environmental and Safety visual aid and display boards.
- Assist and participate in development and implementation of Kaizen (continuous improvement) activity in safety and environmental areas.
- Conduct frequent environmental compliance audits of all designated areas for local, state and federal regulatory compliance.
- Maintain all required standards as regulated by local, state and federal standards and manage the Storm water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
- Monitor and train all team members by deadlines in subjects of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT and corporate; and maintain training records.
- Conduct accident reports and participate in root cause/countermeasure activities.
- Participate in end of month closing by assisting corporate accounting reconcile TBMNC waste shipments with invoices.
- Assist OSP in waste profiling tasks.
- Coordinate shipment schedules of OSP waste with Group Leaders and waste transport company.
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma and associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training preferably in facilities section or equivalent combination of education and experience.
