Job Description:
OLD REPUBLIC TITLE
We are looking for an experienced real estate attorney that is ready to transition their legal practice to the title industry. Old Republic Title is developing an impressive commercial branch in downtown Salt Lake City, ran primarily by attorneys. The industry is fast paced and we need someone with attentiveness to detail and excellent customer service skills. We are looking for an attorney to join our team as an additional commercial escrow officer. The Commercial UW Counsel is responsible for assisting with the underwriting and closing, commercial single-site transactions; commercial multi-site and multi-state refinance and sale transactions; for accounting and escrow functions; for answering inquiries from customers and staff on pending transactions; and for maximum levels of customer satisfaction in the providing of title and closing services.
*Candidates must be located in Salt Lake City and be able to work in-office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with the Underwriting of title insurance policy coverages for commercial real estate transactions with the goal that in 1 to 2 years you can underwrite transactions independent of supervision.
- Assist national commercial escrow officer in closing transactions.
- Assist in the negotiation policy coverage and endorsement coverage in connection with the issuance of owner’s and loan title insurance policies.
- Serve as a resource for sales executives and their clients when they have title insurance and/or real estate questions.
- Gain knowledge of conveyance documents, including deeds and mortgages.
- Gain a good understanding of title insurance, real estate and closing processes and procedures nationwide.
- Assist people and their clients when they have title insurance and/or real estate questions.
- Ability to supervise assistants and support staff, as necessary.
- Be responsible for the management of revenue.
Experience:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school - Active license to practice law
- Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing real estate law
- Strong knowledge of real estate laws, regulations, and industry practices
- Proficiency in legal drafting and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
