Summary:
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform product testing in the Quality Control laboratory:
- In-process and final for manufacturing
- Non-routine and retain testing as requested.
- For example: physical properties, Shore A, specific gravity, tensile, elongation, tear, etc.
- Assign usage decision based on testing results.
- Communicate results and usage decisions to manufacturing personnel or other requestors.
- Perform administrative data entry, such as, reporting of results and material disposition in SAP and OpsLink.
- Good inter-personal skills, self-motivated and a focus on problem solving.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities (5-Why, Kaizen, LEAN White and Yellow Belts)
- Restock supplies, handle waste management, perform required safety tasks, manage retains, clean labware.
- Perform routine equipment troubleshooting, and/or calibration verifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot test method related issues.
- Maintain testing procedures, Quality Control processes and test data, and capture and share undocumented knowledge and experience.
- Maintain and share necessary knowledge for Quality Control processes through training, experience, lessons learned, results of improvements in products and processes, and external sources.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The following are required for the role

High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Able to independently perform all required testing using standard laboratory equipment such as two roll mills, press, ovens, balances, and various heat-cured elastomer laboratory test equipment, and interpret results.

Strong interpersonal skills and strong problem-solving skills; flexible and willing to work in various work locations and shifts as assigned; self-motivated and a good team player, must be able to work unsupervised.

Able to help cover shifts when other QC techs are absent; must be able to work overtime as needed.

Solid work record of dependability.

Computer experience with prior use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
The following are preferred for this role
-
A four-year science-based degree and two years of laboratory experience in an industrial setting

Previous experience in a laboratory performing chemical and/or physical testing.

Silicone product/ process knowledge based on experience in heat-cured elastomers.

Prior SAP experience
-
Laboratory experience in a Manufacturing environment is preferred.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, turn, lift, and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces, and balancing will be required. Reaching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, sight, and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, and the ability to pass a fit test and wear a respirator is required for most positions.
