The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining records through day-to-day bookkeeping and ensuring that transactions have been properly accounted for. The Accounting Specialist will support the efficiency and success of the Finance team by performing various accounting and clerical tasks.
Essential Functions

Perform general ledger accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements, proper record keeping and documentation

Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures

Help maintain the company’s accounting system and keep books and records on all company transactions and assets and ensure all finance records are kept accurately and securely

Reconcile business credit card statements

Process check deposits
-
Assist with cash management and bank reconciliations
-
Assist with month-end and year-end close as needed as well as financial statement preparation
-
Prepare supporting schedule and post month end close entries.

Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
-
Performs other related duties and ad hoc analysis as needed
Education
-
Associate’s Degree or college level accounting courses is preferred; the equivalent amount of experience will be considered in lieu
Experience
-
Prior accounting experience is preferred
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Highly organized and detail oriented
-
Hands-on experience with MS Excel. Intermediate skill is preferred (pivot tables, vlookup, SUMIF, etc.)

Must be comfortable in handling and analyzing large amounts of data

Customer service oriented and excellent internal communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both external and internal clients

Solid organizational skills including time management and multi-tasking skills

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.

The anticipated pay-range for this position is $18.88 to $23.61 an hour
