OPERATE, MAINTAIN, AND CALIBRATE CURRENT INSTRUMEN

Duties

• Operate, maintain, and calibrate current instrumentation to measure ambient aerosol properties from airborne platforms
• Develop and design new measurement techniques to improve the sensitivity and breadth of aerosol measurements in extremely clean environments, e.g., in the Upper Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere (UTLS)
• Apply theoretical principles to quantitatively correct existing and future datasets for known sampling biases
• Optimize and refine processing algorithms to improve data quality
• Analyze existing and future measurement datasets to produce science results for publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Communicate and publish science results in technical journals and present work at conferences, symposia, and review meetings
• Formulate long range plans to maintain NASA’s state-of-the-art stratospheric aerosol measurement capability
• Work well within a team environment to support synergistic aerosol measurement opportunities for both UTLS and tropospheric mission.
