Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Production Control Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineering Specialist.
The primary responsibility of this role is to report to the Conveyance Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Production Control’s department's objective to manage the technical / conveyance operations.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensure that all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost targets are achieved and tracked utilizing FMDS.
- Responsible for the development of Conveyance Engineers in problem-solving skills and solid countermeasure implementation.
- Lead by “Safety First” mindset, Toyota Way, Jishuken Activity, and TPS Principles.
- Collaborate with outside departments and support groups to resolve problems.
- Implement and maintain all technical and regulation engineering instructions.
- Update and improve Manual and Automated Conveyance Delivery Processes.
- New model introduction for logistics pilot including dock layout, parts list confirmation, packaging confirmation, dolly design, and confirmation, communication to pilot assembly and conveyance to ensure efficient process set up.
- Mass prod conveyance and logistics engineering including dock layout changes, Equipment modifications, and delivery systems kaizen.
- Automation and Innovation for material handling, Benchmarking, Capital planning and ringi management, project planning and implementation, conveyance training, and handover.
- Plant PIV working group input and action implementation, safety communication across Assembly PE, Implement PIV x pedestrian separation c/m’s, Implementation of standards set by working group for PIVs.
- Logistics ringi for a new model, order, procure, and install material handling equipment for conveyance groups, Budget and forecast gentani based on historical projects, Yokoten successful platforms across plant/region.
- Cross-functional working groups with conveyance and production for delivery efficiency. Hold weekly meetings for open item discussion, Dock layout and route delivery support, SOAR North American working group for automation communication, implement kaizens for delivery systems (karakuri, sara sara, pass through parent/child).
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical-related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience leading and coordinating problem-solving activities related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and/or Cost.
- Experience with technical specifications and implementation of major and minor equipment design and/or process specification changes.
- Experience managing manufacturing equipment installations and/or modifications.
- Experience successfully leading a cross-shop project or problem-solving team through Jishuken activity or internal working group.
- Successful completion of TBP panel.
Added bonus if you have
- Experience in Automotive Final Assembly Plant.
- Experience with Automotive Major Model Changes and Process Retooling.
- Experience in Pilot with in-depth knowledge of vehicle structure and vehicle systems.
- Project Management or Project Lead experience with demonstrated capability to develop strategies, lead teams, coordinate and prioritize work, meet milestones, and gain consensus through identification of appropriate stakeholders, preparation of materials, leadership, persuasion, and negotiation, and effectively communicate project status.
- Experience writing Ringis and managing budgets.
