Who We're Looking For
Toyota’s Battery Plant Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Engineer – Battery (Electrical)
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage construction projects (expansions, renovations, greenfield, etc.) at our sites in North America. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Battery, the person in this role will support the Battery Plan Engineering Department's objective to provide project management, construction, and building design to ensure projects are designed and built to quality, cost, schedule, and safety KPIs for North American Battery manufacturing sites.
Travel expectation for the position is estimated to be 75% of the duration of a project. During planning, criteria, and planning phases, travel expectations are lower. During construction, the Team Member is expected to be on-site Monday through Friday with some weekends necessary depending on the project task or complexity. This will require paid business travel from the home location to the project site or a dispatch opportunity to temporarily relocate to the project location.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Engineer for new Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina greenfield construction project.
- Develop criteria (mechanical or civil/structural) for the design of buildings.
- Provide technical support to North American Manufacturing Centers (plants) in the areas of building design and construction, including the development and maintenance of building-related standards.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for industrial buildings and building-related systems as technical support for local facility groups at each site, as well as for submittals during project management.
- Utilize experience in plant planning project management, construction, and building design to ensure projects are designed and built to quality, cost, schedule, and safety KPIs.
- Provide Customer Satisfaction with proper communication and consensus with customers to support their needs.
What You Bring
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering: Electrical
- Industrial power systems experience (switchgear, power distribution systems, 480VAC and higher)
- Experience in building design and construction
- Experience in industrial buildings and building-related systems
- Experience in project management of industrial construction projects with a value of $5M+
- Intermediate level experience in computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
Added Bonus If You Have
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Industrial mechanical systems (piping, child water, compressed air, etc.)
- Experience in industrial structural steel systems
- Experience in large-scale civil installations
- Knowledge and experience working with Excel spreadsheets and databases
- Knowledge and experience working with tools such as Bluebeam and Autodesk Build
- Good verbal and communication skills
- Fundamental skills of problem-solving and desire to improve/kaizen
- Good organization skills
