Who we’re looking for
The primary responsibility of this role is to support manufacturing facility operations at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC). Position will manage a team of 4 Group Leaders and corresponding Team Leaders & Team Members (up to 40 TM’s).
In addition to the primary responsibility, the person in this role will support the new construction team as they commission and handover new building systems in the coming years.
This position will work a traditional day shift (or night shift) and will rotate from days to nights on a periodic basis.
What you’ll be doing:
Construction and Commissioning Phases
Develop and lead activities to create a “Safety First” mindset for daily Facility Maintenance operations.
Lead a group of Skilled Team Members in a dynamic project with multiple buildings in various stages of construction, commissioning and production operations
Implement Team Member Training Strategy provided by Facility Projects, monitor training and coach Group Leaders as needed to confirm training KPIs are being met.
Provide daily work plans, clear direction, and technical support to Maintenance Group Leaders.
Support facilities equipment installation and commissioning including:
Drawing Reviews
Equipment Buy-Off
Safety and Kanban Checks
Standardized Work development
Specific system training development based on OEM training plans
Develop appropriate systems for overall start-up and daily operations of facilities systems
Create facilities equipment operations monitoring, preventive maintenance, and backup systems.
Post Construction Operations (POST SOP):
Lead the implementation of a Safety Program that will create an “Interdependent Safety Action Mindset” related to the team safety performance
Lead activity to support Company Target(s) & Objective(s) such as Key Performance Indicators for Safety, Quality, Cost, Major Breakdown reduction, Quick restoration action plans, etc.
Coordinate TM development including technical and Toyota Way skills. Coach and mentor area Maintenance Group Leaders. Develop the next generation of Facility leaders.
Lead daily operations and maintenance for Plant utility and building systems including power distribution, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, water supply, wastewater, dust collection, and other related equipment.
Track and identify operational issues and problem solve with countermeasures via internal maintenance repairs or contracted support.
Lead group in reoccurrence prevention of major breakdowns by incorporating yokoten program feedback from national and global sites
What you bring
Experience in Facilities Maintenance for Manufacturing including preventative/corrective maintenance and contingency planning for chillers, air compressors, HVAC or similar
Supervisory experience, including responsibility for direct reports and team member development
Demonstrated capability to interpret mechanical & electrical schematics to perform systematic problem solving, including root cause, countermeasures, and implementation
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Added bonus if you have
Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field or trade school equivalent
Experience utilizing Building Management Systems to operate site utility systems
Experience with Workplace Organization (5S – Sort / Set in order / Shine / Standardize / Self-discipline)
Experience with system/equipment improvement and long-term refurbishment plans
