What you will do:
The Senior Tax Manager will be a key addition to the Finance Organization as eXp continues its rapid global expansion. eXp is looking for a highly motivated and experienced tax professional.
The Senior Tax Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing financial reporting and tax compliance of indirect tax and 1099 reporting, communicating with tax agencies, handle agent requests related to revenue recognition and indirect taxes, research of taxability of products and services and management of state indirect tax and agent revenue reporting issues and audits. The Senior Tax Manager will work closely with other members of the US Tax Team as well as outside tax advisors and service providers to manage multi-state indirect tax planning issues, including by not limited to nexus, tax registrations, product taxability matrixes, exemption certificate issuance, 1099 reporting, etc.

Oversee compliance of indirect tax returns for eXp and related subsidiaries, including, but not limited to sales tax, use tax, excise, B&O and gross receipts taxes.
- Manage multi-state sales tax, use tax and tax planning issues, including but not limited to nexus, account registration, taxability matrixes, exemption certificates, etc.

Manage Vertex Cloud for proper taxability of all entities, proper determination of nexus, product taxability mapping, and customer exemptions.

Research taxability of products, services, real estate commissions and agent revenue reporting.

Manage data collection for 1099 reporting, process sales and use tax accounting processes, including but not limited to payment requests, journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with occasional inquires.

Manage day-to-day operational tax department responsibilities as it relates to State and Local tax matters, which could include notice resolution, developing journal entries, and data gathering.

Research and understand state indirect tax issues and developments.

Assist with various tax consulting projects such as 1099s, business licenses, etc.

Identify process improvements for various tax processes, implement changes for best practices.

Assist direct tax compliance as needed and other special projects as needed.

Maintain required level of technical knowledge.

Manage day to day workload and train junior staff as necessary.
How you will grab our attention:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

8-10 years experience.
-
Understand fundamentals of state sales/use tax, such as nexus, SaaS taxability.

Experience with enterprise software such as Oracle Cloud, Vertex Cloud, Vertex Returns etc.

Working knowledge of research databases.

Practical experience of process improvements and implementations.

Experience leading the team.

Experience managing competing priorities under pressure.

Experience leveraging technology to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Experience with Microsoft Office/Google Suite tools.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel/sheets skill set required.

Strong communication and managerial skills.

Must have strong math aptitude and computer skills
