What you will do:
The Senior Tax Associate will be a key addition to the Finance Organization as eXp continues its rapid global expansion. eXp is looking for a highly motivated and experienced tax professional.
The Senior Tax Associate will be primarily responsible for supporting 1099 reporting and supporting indirect tax accruals and compliance, communicating with tax agencies, reconciliation of indirect tax liabilities, research and management of revenue recognition, state indirect tax issues and audits. The Senior Tax Associate will work closely with other members of the US Tax Team as well as outside tax advisors and service providers to manage multi-state indirect tax planning issues, including by not limited to company and agent revenue recognition, nexus, tax registrations, product taxability matrixes, exemption certificate issuance, etc.

Assist with 1099 reporting, revenue recognition research, handle agent inquiries as relate to revenue recognition as well as indirect tax implications.

Prepare, review, file indirect tax returns for eXp and related subsidiaries, including, but not limited to sales tax, use tax, excise, B&O and gross receipts taxes.

Research, calculate taxes on AP invoices and real estate commissions.

Prepare and process sales and use tax accounting processes, including but not limited to payment requests, journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with occasional inquires.

Assist on special projects, research and implement implication of law changes as relates to 1099 reporting, indirect taxes, business licenses and other assigned tax matters.

Assist with day-to-day operational tax department responsibilities as it relates to State and Local tax matters, which could include notice resolution, developing journal entries, and data gathering.

Identify process improvements for various tax processes, implement changes for best practices.

Assist direct tax compliance as needed and other special projects as needed.

Maintain required level of technical knowledge.
How you will grab our attention:

3 to 5+ years of State and Local Indirect Tax experience.
-
Understand fundamentals of state sales/use tax, such as nexus, SaaS taxability.

Experience with enterprise software such as Oracle Cloud, Vertex Cloud, Vertex Returns etc.

Working knowledge of research databases.

Experience with 1099 compliance, including handling B Notices.

Experience developing and booking journal entries.

Experience with Microsoft Office/Google Suite tools.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel/sheets skill set required.

Must have strong math aptitude and computer skills.

Ability to work independently and part of a team.

Ability to leverage technology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
