Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced individual to join the USANA database team as a senior database developer. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex database solutions for our organization. You will work closely with data architects, senior developers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality database solutions that meet business requirements and technical standards.
What You Will Do as USANA’s Senior Database Developer
- Utilize your expertise in PL/SQL and T-SQL to design, build, and optimize triggers, functions, procedures, and packages for our relational data models
- Implement advanced indexing techniques (e.g., BIT Map indexes, index-organized tables) and leverage relational database optimization strategies (e.g., HASH joins, NESTED LOOPS, Oracle Hints, parallel query execution) to significantly improve query response times for data-intensive operations.
- Write dynamic SQL to efficiently generate directly into SQL blocks
- Regularly analyze, design, refactor, and fine-tune our online transaction processing (OLTP) databases
- Apply your experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Couchbase, Redis, Mongo) to design and implement solutions that complement our relational data models for specific use cases
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to understand database requirements and design solutions that meet business needs and technical standards
- Data architecture experience with high-volume transactional databases
- Data modeling experience along with using tools such as ER Studio or Erwin
Background and Skills You Will Need
- 5 + years of experience developing for Oracle and SQL Server databases using TSQL and PL/SQL
- 3+ years of experience in the analysis, design, development, deployment, and tuning of large-scale distributed, transactional e-commerce database applications
- Expert knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL and SQL Server TSQL best practices and development methodologies or standards
- Data partitioning techniques to manage, support, and performance tune very large databases (VLDBs)
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
