Research Scientist

We are looking for a highly knowledgeable, critical minded, and research driven professional to join our team as a research scientist. As part of USANA’s in-house team, you will primarily work on researching scientific literature to evaluate product functions pertaining to USANA product strategy, particularly the expanding demand for USANA InCelligence Technology.

In this position, you will use scientific literature to conduct research and arrive at conclusions regarding specific product claims. Doing so will require you to review thoroughly relevant articles and extract the data that inform the findings and the quality of the findings.  Additionally, you will create measures and protocols allowing stringent evaluation of current research status related to a specific product related question. As a R&D scientist, you will analyze the obtained data with statistical method to arrive at your conclusions and assess the landscape of a specific research fielding, including the recent progress and finding, commonly used techniques, and unanswered questions.

To be successful in this role, you must be extremely organized, have high project management skills, be comfortable and confident in your knowledge and ability to make and follow through on your research decision, and work well with other cross functional teams.  

What You Will Also Do as a Research Scientist

• Interpret research results and present results to various teammates, colleagues, and executives
• Have a thorough understanding of the company’s strategy of product development and contribute to the ideation and designing process of research projects
• Assist in similar work responsibilities of colleagues
• Attend business and research meetings to present research findings to various
• Occasional travel to research partners in universities and companies

Background and Skills You Need

• MS in biological sciences or other related majors; Ph.D. preferred
• Able to conduct meticulous and organized works that demands accuracy
• Wide knowledge of biological science, especially in molecular biology and nutrition, and able to relate the knowledge to product development 
• Ability of creative thinking contributing to new product innovation
• Ability of critical thinking necessary for literature review
