Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Provides the UHR HR Consulting team with compensation assistance, assisting with servicing the university community with compensation matters to include: Reviewing submitted requests, position classification, compensation consultation; policy advisement; change management and resolution of compensation issues.
- Collaborates with HR partners on salary determination for new hires, promotions, transfers, and other compensation actions by ensuring compliance with bargaining unit agreements and University compensation policies, guidelines and processes.
- Makes recommendations regarding the classification and reclassification of assigned positions based on analysis and review of position documents, internal and external job data and internal policies.
- Prepares comprehensive recommendations and conclusions for assigned cases.
- Conducts classification and reclassification studies taking into account internal and external considerations.
- Utilizes market survey data and job documentation obtained from job descriptions, position information questionnaires and/or desk audits in order to classify jobs based on the scope and nature of the position.
- Assists with the documentation of compensation processes, procedures and practices.
- Ensures compliance with contract provisions of staff unions, in consultation and collaboration with Labor Relations.
- Ensures compliance with University and UHR policies.
- Participates in the review and maintenance of computerized systems relative to position request, position control, job descriptions and other compensation administration functions.
- Participates in special projects to promote, support, strengthen and expand the strategic role and partnerships with clients.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in compensation practices: compensation programs, job evaluation, market pricing methodology, compensation modeling and advanced analytics and project management.
- Experience working and negotiating with unions; and being part of a unionized environment.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and analyzing the effectiveness of compensation programs.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
- Prior experience in the higher education setting.
- Experience in Compensation practices, position classification, compensation analysis, job data analysis, market data review & analysis and compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws, preferably in higher education and/or in a labor environment; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Computer proficiency.
- Excellent analytical, statistical analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, highly sensitive environment; and have exceptional organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information, and to manage conflict and highly complex situations and relationships are essential.

- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products and data systems.
