Position Details
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists the program administrator with the planning, preparation, evaluation, and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents.
- Assists with management, fiscal, outreach, and pedagogical duties.
- Serves as a second primary investigator/oral history interviewer, organize the production of the program’s end products (interview audio media and transcripts), serve as the program webmaster, and execute other program-related duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in History, American Studies, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.
- Good communication skills and computer literacy.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, such as the MS Office software suite; proficiency in web development software, such as Dreamweaver; proficiency in transcription software tools, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking and Express Scribe.
- M. A. in History or American Studies or Masters in Library and Information Science (or similar degree) or a related field.
- Experience in conducting interviews and/or working with members of the public.
- Experience in web development.
- Experience in event management and public speaking.
- Knowledge of archival practices and standards.
- Recording equipment/digital transfer system (3 recorders, media and computer).
- MS Office Suite, Dreamweaver, Express Scribe and Dragon Naturally Speaking, used for editing transcripts, preparing web content, making presentations, managing financial and participant data and routine office functions.
- Computers (3 stations and 1 laptop) and 2 external hard drives for backing up ROHA digital files.
- 2 scanners for duplicating photos and documents at production standards set by archival profession. Joomla Web Management Tools and System.
- Lifting boxes up to 35 lbs.
- Travel to all RU campuses and interview sites across NJ and the country.
