WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Are you a freelance Stage Manager / Show Caller with a passion for delivering a client’s vision to their targeted audience? If so, Opus Agency wants to hear from you as we are expanding our freelance pool to accommodate future projects and we want YOU to be a part of it!
We’re searching for contract Stage Managers / Show Callers to support our live events. This position is the conductor of the event, directing all of the technicians and engineers in the intricate cues of video, lighting, camera, presentations, speakers, music, musicians, DJ, dancers, and performers. The Stage Manager / Show Caller is responsible for all of the organizational and logistical aspects of a Mainstage show, from the first rehearsal to the final curtain call. They work with the creative team to help make the director's vision a reality, and with the technical operating team to ensure the program runs smoothly. The stage manager also typically owns a master “Run of Show” document (RoS) and is responsible for building, updating and distributing the document to the run crew and client. Ideally, this person also has experience in Show Calling live Broadcast events for TV and Streaming platforms as well.
YOU SHOULD HAVE
- 8+ years of experience managing creative projects
- Proficient in Apple, Google and Microsoft applications and platforms
- Experience with the following is a bonus - Shoflow, Monday.com, Salesforce
- Thrive on supporting and work collaboratively with different workstyles, teams, clients seamlessly
- Successfully perform in a high stress, fast-paced environment
- Accept changes with short notice and tolerate frequent interruptions
- Comfort in improvising in the moment as part of the constantly changing environment
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality
- Experience with IATSE crew highly desirable
- Able to work a flexible schedule with ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and distributing rehearsal schedules and cue sheets to all show positions.
- Manage show running crew from rehearsal through show
- Coordinate the set up and technical rehearsals with the crew, and facilitating communication across all creative and technical departments
- Providing practical and organizational support to directors, designers, and technical crew
- Overseeing the stage, furniture, sets, props, lights, and sound
- Cueing/Calling all technical cues during performances
- Creating a comprehensive rundown compiled with notes on all cues and requirements for props, lighting, video and sound (aka the “Run of Show” Document)
- When called upon, the Stage Manager/Show Caller is often asked to direct show talent on and off stage, and track all talent movements from backstage to front of house
