About Bridgewater’s Singapore Office
As part of our ongoing partnership in the Asia Pacific region, we opened a Bridgewater office in Singapore in Q1 2022. The initial focus of that office will be to deepen our ability to partner with our clients and prospective clients in the region. In line with Bridgewater’s overall mission to grow and diversify our business, our strategic goal is to capitalize on growing commercial opportunities in Asia and further deepen our ability to partner with existing institutional clients and drive new market development with prospective advisory and distribution relationships in the region.
This is an exciting new entrepreneurial effort at Bridgewater. The current size of the Singapore team is around 20 people, and, as with any new initiative, involves strong cross-functional collaboration from teams around the firm.
About the Finance Department
Finance is the guardian of Bridgewater’s financial resources. We seek to drive sustainable shareholder value by controlling, safeguarding, and optimizing use of the firm’s financial resources. This responsibility is fulfilled by providing strategic partnership, insights and independent challenge along with the delivery of high-quality financial reporting, forecasting and analysis while maintaining effective and efficient operational control. To further Finance’s impact, the department has launched an aggressive transformation platform to enrich insights, improve reporting, risk and control operations and ultimately develop more intimate, influential relationships with business leaders.
About the Role:
The Senior Finance Associate will be responsible for the financial operations of Bridgewater’s Singapore office. This role will work closely with the Singapore leadership team, the broader finance team as well as 3rd party vendors to support Bridgewater’s growth in the region. This will entail ensuring the financials are complete and accurate, driving operations including payroll and source to pay as well as the ability to translate the strategic direction in the region to financial implications. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to act independently and have an equal background in accounting and operations.
You will drive the following responsibilities:
- Produce timely and reliable financial statements for management reporting and statutory/regulatory purposes. Leverage experts to generate financials for both US GAAP and Singapore Financial Reporting Standards and project manage annual audits.
- Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
- Own Source to Pay activities to meet business needs within the financial constraints and control framework.
- Support payroll practices by being the local liaison for questions or issue resolution.
- Drive the financial planning process including preparing budgets, performing actual analysis and maintaining forecasts throughout the year. Ultimately serving as an independent financial control ensuring Bridgewater’s resources are optimized and spend is within budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of analytical work experience in a field such as corporate finance, FP&A, accounting, business planning and analysis, including financial modeling
- Experience with Adaptive, Coupa, Workday, Power BI is a plus
- Proactive in nature – ask questions and take initiative to improve current processes and metrics
- Experience forming well synthesized, structured recommendations from financial information to help drive informed and quality decisions
- Highly organized individual with keen attention to detail, including ability to meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree ideally in Finance or Accounting with a strong academic track record
- Language requirement: This role communicates regularly with our Westport, CT, US office. Fluency in English and strong written communication skills are required.
- Language preferences: Our clients communicate in Mandarin and Malay. The ability to read and converse in Mandarin is preferred. Conversational Malay is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- For most of our roles, Bridgewater offers remote work flexibility, with most employees required to work on campus as their principal work location, a minimum of two days (and in some cases three days) per week with the option to work offsite on other days. Bridgewater’s Singapore Office is located in the Central Business District.
- This role will require occasional communication with our Westport, CT office, which may require you to take calls and/or be responsive to email outside of standard work hours. This may include early morning (7am SGT) or late evening (8-10pm SGT) due to time differences. Flexibility of working hours is required.
Compensation:
The wage range for this role is S$165,000 - S$235,000 inclusive of base salary and discretionary bonus. The expected base salary for this role is between 80-90% of this wage range.
