Job Purpose
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and Maintenance, the Senior Operations Manager will oversee the efficient and safe operation of wind[SB1] and solar power plants. This includes assuring and documenting compliance with all codes, regulations, and contracts as well as the oversight and direction of self-performing for solar O&M work throughout California.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all field personnel develop and maintain high levels of safety, health and environmental awareness and performance.
- Develop procedures, policies, objectives and goals in line with Longroad Energy corporate goals, culture, and code of conduct.
- Oversee all Operations and Maintenance activities for renewable power generating facilities to include but not limited to; Substation & HV work, collection system equipment, balance of plant activities, wind turbine generator (WTG) and photovoltaic (PV) inverters.
- Facilitate seamless handover of projects as they transition from post construction to operations.
- Manage site contracts and warranties to the standards and interests of Longroad.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations in all concerns, including but not limited to; environmental, NERC/FERC, local laws and regulations.
- Develop and manage cost effective solutions to plant budgetary limitations including continuous evaluation of current and past work procedures and policies to optimize O&M performance.
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate and accessible records of plant performance and other data.
- Support development and construction activities with an eye on long term price impacts as they relate to O&M and Longroad Energy.
- Develop beneficial business relationships with OEM providers and regional contractors.
- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations as required.
- Hire, supervise, train, develop and evaluate performance of employees under supervision.
- Lead by example to ensure compliance with all Longroad processes, procedures and policies while maintaining standards of the corporate code of conduct in all employees under supervision.
- Interact with local utilities, regulatory agencies, local government/community and landowners.
- Monitor and manage plant operating budget and budget forecasts.
- Perform additional tasks/projects as directed by VP Operations and/or senior management.
- Travel as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to apply for electrical licensed for use by Longroad Energy Services in California.
- 5 years of experience in operations and maintenance of a wind, solar or thermal energy facility.
- 5 years supervisory experience.
- Budget[SB2] / Project Management experience.
- Contract execution experience.
- Government regulation compliance experience.
- Comfortable working at heights and the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; this includes climbing 300’ wind turbines, lifting 50 lbs. above head, and meeting the weight requirement of safety gear, 310 lbs. or less.
- Proficient computer and software skills.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- Technical 2–4-year college degree or comparable certifications.
- Prior experience with large (100 MW+) solar or wind facilities.
- Has prior experience of a technical nature.
