Summary
The Transmission System Supervisor (TSS) performs the NERC System Operator duties. The TSS has the responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System. This is accomplished in such a way that it adheres to NERC, RFC, MISO policies and procedures. The TSS monitors voltage frequency, power flow, reactive flow, tie-line flow and power equipment status, for internal and external grid security. At all times, the TSS is responsible for the restoration of transmission reliability after contingencies related to loss of generation, load, natural disasters and other system emergencies. The TSS has the operating authority to direct the dispatcher operators during all transmission restoration procedures. The position has a rotating shift and includes weekend and holiday duty.
Required Qualifications for Position
- Must be able to successfully pass and maintain the NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification (internal training will be provided to prepare for the examination)
- Must have previous experience in an electric engineering or electric operations related position
- Must have the ability to use personal computers, Energy Management System computer and any other associated hardware and software
- Must have good planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Must understand the operation of power plants and high voltage interconnected power systems and associated equipment. Must also have the ability to evaluate system performance and reliability
- Knowledge of electric transmission equipment and system operations
- Ability to study and evaluate transmission system requirements as they apply to system stability
- Strong verbal and written communications utilizing English and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform under contingent and emergency condition
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent education/work experience
- Transmission System Operations background preferred

Salary Range:
$91,000.00 - $136,600.00
