Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. As an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions that help increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, Kenworth is dedicated to optimizing vehicle aerodynamics and internal combustion engine and aftertreatment systems. Kenworth is pushing the technology envelope with the introduction of battery electric vehicles, exploration of fuel cell electric vehicles, and autonomous driving systems.
Position Summary
Kenworth is seeking an energetic, independent engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks. The primary function is to set direction and guide the organization to follow a road map for fuel economy improvements. The Fuel Economy Property Owner is responsible for managing the portfolio of new technologies and powertrain integration strategies for Kenworth vehicles and championing support across levels of management. The position will coordinate with multiple divisions and engineering groups to implement projects to achieve Kenworth’s best-in-class fuel economy.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Identify, develop and incorporate advanced automotive technologies into PACCAR products by leading initiatives and gain division support for implementing projects.
- Champion for developing, coordinating, advocating fuel economy engineering projects.
- Promote fuel economy projects by working with system and component owners as a technical program manager for project implementation.
- Lead global workshops for alignment on technologies with suppliers and internal global engineering teams.
- Elicit requirements from customers, sales teams, government regulations, and industry standards to capture customer and business needs directly related to fuel economy.
- Support technology integration through electrical architecture, aerodynamic design, and testing phases.
- Creates work plans for upcoming programs by establishing scope, identifying deliverables, and estimating resources needed to achieve goals.
- Work with global teams to deliver common, cost-efficient solutions PACCAR-wide (up to 10% travel may be required).
Qualifications & Skills
- BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred.
- 1-3 years of working experience required
- Understanding of design, development, and validation of automotive technologies.
- Ability to reach out to non-reporting groups and gather support to lead fuel economy projects.
- Excellent communication skills with a proficiency in technical writing.
- Familiar with powertrain, aerodynamic, and control systems technologies as they relate to trucking and fuel economy.
- Familiar with full vehicle simulation and vehicle validation methods, including demonstration of tools such as Matlab and Simulink.
- Requires independent judgment and effective decision making skills.

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for the Fuel Economy Property Owner is $75,100 - $112,300 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
