Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Conduct long-range planning, design, evaluation, and implementation of network/server systems
- Complete server and desktop maintenance and upgrades
- Conduct hardware and software testing; implement virus and other security measures
- Serve as project implementation leader, developer, and team member
- Support personnel with standard office automation software and web publishing, and ongoing testing and support of new applications
- Assist with advanced systems troubleshooting
- Research technical trends and new product developments, recommend new technology, and coordinate their deployment
- Provide high-level technical consultation and collaborates with Technical Director to analyze needs
- Assist in training of BMC producers and staff to increase and build computer, internet and security awareness and skills
- Work with the BMC Digital Content Manager to create, monitor and maintain efficient and effective integration between the BMC digital network storage and the online presentation platforms
- Work with BMC department leadership to devise and implement and maintain a modern, secure and robust network environment to support digital content creation and dissemination
- Additional duties as assigned by the Technical Director
You will supervise a computer support specialist, manage interactions with UM Campus IT Support and supervise student interns or work-study employees.
Required Skills
- Knowledge and experience in managing an OU and Group Policy under a corporate modeled Active Directory environment
- Knowledge and experience in LAN and WAN networks, Enterprise Cisco Catalyst network design, installation, configuration, management and troubleshooting
- Knowledge and experience in configuration and maintenance of servers, workstations, security, virtualization environments, NAS, SAN, Current Enterprise Windows and Server Operating Systems, Linux and embedded systems
- Knowledge and experience in Antivirus software evaluation, deployment, maintenance, updates; periodic reevaluation of software performance and effectiveness
- Knowledge and experience of backup implementation and maintenance, backups of data, server images, VMs, databases, mission-critical workstations
- Knowledge and experience of OS and application updates of physical and virtual servers, strategic implementation of security updates, upgrading and replacing hardware as needed to accommodate evolving application needs
- Knowledge and experience with Network and Internet Security Best Practices
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills including text and visual editing, moderation
Minimum Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related education and/or significant demonstrated experience, including three to five (3-5) years of progressively independent Network/Computer System Administrator experience
- IT project management and personnel supervision experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with Digital Television and Radio Broadcast specific protocols, services, software, automation systems, and hardware including DJB Zone, CODECs, TrueNAS.
- Knowledge and experience with microwave network links and support of remote networks and sites with tools such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk and TightVNC.
- Knowledge of public broadcasting digital platforms including NPR Core Publisher, NPROne, Public Media Platform, PBS Bento, Allegiance
- Two (2) years of experience working in public broadcasting

Position Details
Position Title: Network/Computer Systems Administrator III

Department: Broadcast Media Center (KUFM)
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week),
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year,
evenings and weekends as needed
Salary: $31.557/hr.
Union Affiliation: None
Probationary Period: Six months minimum
