Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do:
In the BMS HW/SW Integration Engineer role, you will integrate software and hardware designs for Archer’s high voltage battery management and charging systems and verify its functionality – enabling the use of electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft for urban air mobility.
Specifically, you will
- own BMS hardware verification throughout the development cycle, from prototype PCBAs to aircraft integration,
- work hands-on in the lab to set up equipment and instrumentation, developing test fixtures as needed,
- troubleshoot and resolve hardware-software issues cross-functionally,
- develop automated testing of hardware diagnostic features, and
- maintain traceability between requirements and test results, producing required artifacts to support software certification.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Ability to troubleshoot circuit diagrams, hardware, and software to determine root cause issues and propose solutions
- Understanding of interactions between hardware and firmware drivers
- Knowledge of schematic design and PCB layout
- Ability to use a variety of mechanical (crimping, soldering, connector systems) and electrical (digital multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.) tools
- Familiarity with microcontroller peripheral interfaces, including SPI, CAN, UART, and their related debugging tools
- Proficiency in scripting languages, e.g., Python
- Experience with requirement management tools
- Excellent organization and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with high voltage battery systems
- Experience with new product development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, medical devices)
- Experience with DO-178C software verification and ARP4754 development process
- Experience with ISO 26262, ISO 15118, and SAE J1772 standards

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $134,000 - $168,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
