PROVIDE SCIENTIFIC EXPERTISE AND LEADERSHIP TO THE

Duties

• Provide scientific expertise and leadership to the Climate Science Branch programs and projects.
• Lead science algorithm development and validation analysis activities which includes the data from space-based narrow-band imagers and broadband radiometers.
• Coordinate with various project research groups to formulate plans for timely delivery of data products for use by the scientific community.
• Update algorithms to improve the quality of data products.
• Analyze data to understand, deduce and investigate atmospheric radiative transfer modeling techniques or investigate cloud retrieval techniques from space-based satellite imager instruments.
• Publish results in technical journals and present work at conferences, symposia, and review meetings.
• Cloud Working Group: Develop and maintain algorithms for the retrieval of cloud properties from passive satellite imagers in support of atmospheric science and Earth radiation budget studies.
• SARB Working Group: Develop and maintain algorithms to calculate surface and atmospheric radiative fluxes in support of Earth radiation budget studies.
