Duties

• Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation of a variety of integrated accounts within an entire accounting system consisting of standard administrative and non-standard specialized accounts.
• Analyze complex accounting transactions that create out-of-balance conditions in financial reports. Track back through transactions and erroneous adjustments to assist with isolating original errors.
• Support internal reviews to ensure accuracy and validity of transactions and assist with obtaining information needed to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place. Apply established regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Utilize accepted accounting principles, theories, techniques, and methodologies to support the development and design of new procedures to fit evolving needs or conditions.
• Assist with the analysis of accounts, reports, and systems and compile additional information, as needed. Review and evaluate work processes and procedures and recommend changes to meet compliance standards or to improve efficiency.
• Review financial reports generated from financial systems for technical accuracy. Assist with validating data integrity through analysis and reconciliation. Document findings and contribute recommendations for corrective action.
• Contribute to the development or implementation of management improvements in administrative areas identified through such means as internal control reviews and management studies.
• Assist with quality assurance reviews of existing and proposed accounting processes to ensure financial integrity and conformance to Agency and Federal laws, regulations, and practices.
