TEMP ASSISTANT PROFESSOR SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES

Position Summary
The selected candidate for this position will be required to work on-site at Santa Fe Community College.
This is a TEMP/Provisional faculty position, therefore continous employment in contingent upon further position funding, and/or need.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teaches up to 15 pay hours each semester (fall and spring semesters)/30 pay hours per year; which could include online, in person, day, evening and/or weekend classes.
- Conducts assigned classes in accordance with approved course syllabi; participates in curriculum development.
- Assists students with enrollment, registration, and navigating systems.
- Acquaints students with course content, requirements, grading procedures, and attendance policy.
- Maintains and submits to Academic Director or Dean up-to-date course outlines and assessment materials.
- Seeks ways to improve instruction, keeping abreast of professional education developments.
- Maintains approved schedule of office hours.
- Assists in the choice of textbooks and other instructional materials that are appropriate to the course syllabi.
- Creates curriculum and assessment instruments; uses appropriate technology in teaching.
- Attends and supports college activities; participates in faculty, division, college-wide, and other meetings and functions.
- Serves on committees.
- Develops and selects materials and methods for faculty to use in teaching and assessing courses.
- Mentors and observes adjunct faculty.
- Provides leadership and professional development opportunities for adjunct faculty.
- Collaborates with other faculty and staff in the School and across the college.
- Assumes special duties assigned by the Dean of Trades, Advanced Technology, and Sustainability and/or designated representatives as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
- May serve as Department Chair over all sustainable technologies programs
- Promotes Sustainability programs within SFCC and to the community to include forming, maintaining, and growing advisory boards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Current and demonstrated knowledge in applicable course content;
- Knowledge of current teaching methodologies and practices, such as cooperative learning, service-learning, traditional and alternative assessment;
- Knowledge of diverse learning styles;
- Knowledge of tutorial units and related instructional learning laboratories;
- Knowledge of evaluation methodologies;
- Knowledge of record keeping;
- Knowledge of curriculum design and planning.
- Must posses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Skill in problem solving;
- Skill in time management;
- Skill in computer use;
- Skill in listening and in critical thinking.
- Must have a sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas;
- Ability to speak clearly;
- Ability to work with students with learning differences and disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related area and 7 years industry-related experience,
or
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and 5 years industry-related experience,
or
- Master’s degree in a related area and 3 years industry-related experience,
or
- Doctoral degree in a related area and 1 years industry-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary or college setting.
- Teaching experience in a community college setting.
- Five (5) or more years of teaching experience
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, online and technology-enriched teaching, and student advising.
- Experience in teacher mentoring and strong record of continuing professional development.
- Experience teaching in a multicultural setting.
