Who We Are
The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas: the power to see things not ordinarily possible and the ability to collect insights from a multitude of vantage points. As the world continues its digital transformation and relies more on cloud services and the Internet, the “network,” which is now both public and private, has become a black box our customers cannot see or understand.
Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform delivers the only collectively powered real-time view of the Internet and private networks, cloud, and SaaS platforms, helping enterprises and service providers identify problems before they impact revenue, damage brand reputation, or halt employee productivity.
In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within the Cisco Networking Business Group and is the Network Assurance solution for Cisco across the Cisco Networking Cloud and Cisco Security Cloud. In September 2023, ThousandEyes completed its first acquisition, SamKnows, to extend ThousandEyes' industry-leading view of the Internet and hybrid workforce experience.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cisco legal team directly supporting the ThousandEyes business, with a focus on supporting the SamKnows integration. We are looking for a fun, creative team player, hungry to dive into a wide variety of hands-on work to help drive the business forward.
What You’ll Do
The Product Legal team differentiates itself through a deep understanding of Cisco’s products and offers. We serve as the primary Legal partner to Product Management/Engineering and the business teams that build and commercialize Cisco products. This role will support the ThousandEyes business (including the recent SamKnows acquisition).
We are looking for a highly motivated, solution-driven, and tech-savvy senior product counsel who is excited about working in a dynamic environment. We’re looking for someone who can:
● Develop deep knowledge of ThousandEyes’ and SamKnows’ offerings, business processes, and go-to-market strategies and develop close working relationships with product management, engineering, sales, operations, infosec, and finance teams.
● Provide support in all areas of product counseling, with a focus on integration of the SamKnows’ offerings into ThousandEyes’ existing business.
● Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements (e.g. as a SaaS provider or in the context of technology partnerships) and assist in the development/improvement of templates/playbooks.
● Expertly assess and balance legal risk while providing practical guidance.
● Develop and refine the legal strategy for a growing SaaS business in collaboration with other members of the Legal team and the ThousandEyes executive team.
● Be a team player, willing to pitch in and assist wherever needed.
● Be able to work effectively in a remote environment.
Who You Are
You should possess excellent legal and business judgment, strong critical thinking, and communication (written and oral) skills, as well as a proven work ethic. It is important that you can work directly with all levels and functions within the organization. Additionally, you should be self-directed, collaborative, and flexible, with the ability to thrive in a collegial, fast-paced environment. Your role will involve developing and supporting a dynamic legal strategy for the ThousandEyes business, accounting for legal and business considerations, customer experience, and market conditions. Problem-solving skills with speed, simplicity, organization, and sound judgment are essential. Success in this role requires self-motivation, confidence, rigor, diligence, and a passion for learning and contributing.
Your Qualifications
● Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing, with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience at a law firm and/or in-house (the ideal candidate will have both law firm and in-house experience.)
● Strong knowledge of the legal issues applicable to SaaS product counseling, including expertise in the following areas: data privacy, intellectual property, trade compliance, and open source.
● Solid knowledge of data privacy regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and direct experience applying data privacy concepts in the product counseling context is important. (CIPP/E certification is a plus.)
● Outstanding contract negotiation and drafting skills, including extensive experience negotiating complex licensing arrangements (both with customer-facing and technology partnership agreements).
● Strong collaboration skills – ability to partner closely with business, technical and Legal team members.
● Ability to understand and synthesize complex issues, assess legal and business risk, and provide concise, plain English, business-focused advice, including to executive leadership.
● Intellectual curiosity – enjoys learning about new technologies and partnering with technical teams.
● Ability to build credibility, advocate, influence, and become a trusted adviser to the business and Legal team members.
● Business-centric approach to handling complex legal issues, while demonstrating grace and a positive attitude.
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, lead and deliver on simultaneous projects/deliverables under deadline pressure.
● Humility and a sense of humor.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
