Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Building, testing, and troubleshooting optoelectronic components and systems,
- Design and execution of quality control and quality assurance protocols,
- Design, layout, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of complex electronic circuits, assemblies, and products,
- Contributing to a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians on new technology development from conception through R&D to production of reliable commercial products,
- Interfacing with PCB fabrication vendors,
- Developing and/or executing measurement plans to characterize experimental optoelectronic hardware,
- Deploying and operationalizing new hardware products in on-site demonstrations
Requirements
Required qualifications:
- B.S., B.A., or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent field with demonstrated laboratory experience,
- Demonstrated proficiency in electrical design including, board layout, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, of complex electrical and/or firmware systems,
- Demonstrated expertise and proficiency with Altium or similar electrical design software,
- Experience designing and laying out mixed-signal, low noise, and high-speed electrical systems,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with customers for troubleshooting and product development purposes,
- Excellent work ethic with the willingness to work hard and efficiently in a fast-paced research environment,
- Ability to take initiative and work independently on assigned projects.
Preferred qualifications:
- Direct hands-on experience designing and constructing complex optoelectronic products and experiments,
- Demonstrated programming experience in C, C#, C++, or similar languages,
- Experience piloting unmanned aerial vehicles compliant with FAA part 107,
- Experience with FPGA design, preferably for Xilinx and/or Altera using Xilinx Vivado or Altera Quartus Prime,
- Experience with optical fibers, components, detectors and/or lasers,
- Experience with Matlab mathematical modeling software.
