Job Description

Summary of Position
NRECA’s communications and marketing department is a central hub of the association and is responsible for shaping external, internal and member communications and marketing efforts. The department works to tell the modern electric cooperative story, positively influence the perception of cooperatives with inside-the-beltway policymakers, elevate the organization’s brand and showcase the value of NRECA membership. The communications and marketing team works closely with NRECA’s C-suite, and partners with departments across the organization like Government Relations, Business and Technology Strategy, Education, Training and Events, and more. Collaboration, creativity, and passion drive the team to consistently achieve success and help build a better tomorrow for electric cooperatives across the nation.
We are looking for a capable and experienced individual to join our team and lead NRECA’s marketing efforts focused on promoting the value of NRECA membership, generating organizational revenue and enhancing NRECA’s respected brand.
This position will collaborate with NRECA senior leadership to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic marketing plan, build trust and loyalty by collaborating across the association to align, prioritize and organize NRECA’s marketing initiatives; highlight the full breadth of the organization’s value and achievements; and ensure the marketing team is organized in a manner to deliver strong internal customer satisfaction along with robust results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes the marketing strategy by leading NRECA's marketing efforts, aligning with organizational goals and promoting revenue streams.
- Leads the Marketing department and manages budget including setting clear expectations to accomplish goals and strategic priorities, providing timely feedback and coaching and recognition and developing the necessary skills and capabilities within the team to enhance performance.
- Partners with NRECA leadership to champion the Association activities and opportunities for telling the cooperative story and demonstrating value to our members.
- Advises senior leaders on marketing strategies that enhance NRECA and accomplish strategic priorities. Manages Brand Identity by overseeing NRECA's brand consistency and reputation across all channels.
- Builds and fosters collaborative relationships with other departments within the organization to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives, achievements, and policy issues.
- Ensures coordination of marketing strategies and programs with NRECA departments and Touchstone Energy. Leads digital marketing by Spearheading digital marketing initiatives including email, online ads, Search Engine Optimization, and Search Engine Marketing.
- Leads market research and conducts research to understand member and internal needs, track industry trends, and tailor marketing efforts.
- Develops/reviews speeches, presentations, and related materials for NRECA officers and directors.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
- 10+ years of direct/association marketing or advertising experience, preferably in an advocacy organization.
- 7+ years of experience managing a team. Ability to develop strategic creative solutions for nonprofit, association, issue advocacy organizations and/or for-profit organizations with similar complexity and revenue profiles.
- Experience developing integrated strategic marketing plans for large-scale organizations.
- Knowledge of integrated marketing, including emerging trends and developments in these areas and in technological advancements for marketing to large, diverse groups of members and executives within those organizations.
- Ability to provide clear creative conceptual direction, creative content and guidance to highly technical professionals, creative professionals, and executive management.
- Ability to develop strategic creative solutions for nonprofit, association, issue advocacy organizations and/or for-profit organizations with similar complexity and revenue profiles.
- Ability to understand the financial indicators to measure performance including ROI, and an ability to summarize business and financial data in the useful manner for planning and decision making.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
