The Lincoln, NE office is looking for a Jr Desktop Engineer to join their IT Help Desk. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate to get started in their IT career and to learn from an elite IT team.
Position Summary
A multi-faceted Help Desk position with multiple growth opportunities in various domains within IT; will provide an elite level of customer service while assisting employees; will look for continual service improvement in the Help Desk area with a strong desire for professional development into a Senior level desktop engineer position. The person in this job will be expected to work onsite at the Lincoln office, M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Works under guidance of the Sr. Desktop Engineers and learns from them and seeks to develop subject matter expertise and higher-level skills in Desktop Engineering.
Learns how to provide Service Desk support for employees including desktop, audio/visual equipment, printer, mobile device, and remote access support.
Answers technical questions, problem solves, tracks cases using a service ticket system and learns when to escalate issues when needed.
Supports the maintenance of the desktop engineering system, core desktop enterprise applications, remote computing device environment and integrated backend servers to achieve an optimal desktop platform.
Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves hardware and software issues that require troubleshooting, interacting with the network and security teams as needed.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Certifications Required or Preferred
Associate degree in Computer Science/Information Systems Technology or 3+ years technical experience supporting a Microsoft client/server environment.
0-2 years of experience, engineering, implementing, and supporting desktop hardware and software configurations with experience in Help Desk support, desired.
Experience in Windows operating systems 7, 10 and 11 and Apple iOS and Android operating systems.
Experience in desktop hardware installations and large-scale rollouts, preferred.
Computing Technology Industry Association A+ Certification (CompTIA A+) or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience):
Knowledge of Windows-based networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
Knowledge of printer/print server hardware/software.
Knowledge of asset management, desktop management systems, functions, and operations.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and complete follow-through in all areas of responsibility.
Ability to effectively interact with others and work in a team environment by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful with an emphasis on service excellence.
Ability to listen to the customer’s needs, de-escalate difficult customer issues and communicate effectively with employees.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions.
Essential Physical Requirements:
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
