IBM iSERIES ENGINEER - REMOTE
A national organization is seeking an experience IBM iSeries Engineer to join their team. The IBM iSeries Engineer will be responsible for management and administration of IBM i infrastructure within the enterprise. You will manage tools and processes to facilitate efficiency, reliability, availability, recoverability, and security of the IBM i technology stack. The IBM iSeries Engineer will ensure seamless delivery of critical systems that positions the business for success. Excellent communication skills are required.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy and maintain critical database technology across the organization
- Collaborate and interact with technical colleagues, software development teams, business users and external managed service providers in a cross-functional capacity
- Manage IBM i Engineer Team incidents and develop proactive and preventive action plans
- Proactively identify anomalies and exceptions within system workloads, effectively remediate and resolve as appropriate
- Define standards and implement best practices for system management that integrate with business systems yet ensure seamless delivery and position for growth
- Identify and automate repeatable tasks, leverage innovation to refine and streamline existing processes
- Ownership and direct involvement in a wide array of diverse and interesting projects
Requirements:
- College degree in the field of computer science and/or 6-8 years’ equivalent work experience as an IBM iSeries Engineer
- Strong experience with IBM Power technology stack fundamentals, such as frame management, virtualization, SAN integration, replication technologies, backup/recovery and performance management
- Experience working with IBM Business Partners and 3rd party application vendors
- Proven experience with SDLC and integration of proprietary business systems
- Experience with cloud integration or hosted systems a plus (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot, triage and handle major incidents across the organization
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to thrive in cross-functional capacity and understand business requirements
- Expertise in IBM Power i concepts and facilities, with practical experience integrating IBM i o/s into a custom business system environment (workload management, performance tuning/optimization, backup/recovery, replication and failover, etc.).
