In the first 6 months of the role, you will:
- Own searches for positions at all levels, from entry-level to executive, particularly in areas encompassing multilingual (Spanish speaking) roles as we plan to launch hiring on the ground in Puerto Rico by 2025
- Specifically, you will help refine and implement tailored processes for Spanish speaking roles, including sourcing, assessing candidates, and supporting hiring managers and teams through the process end-to-end
- Lead talent acquisition process from end-to-end, including tracking and meeting hiring and DEI related KPIs, training hiring managers on recruiting processes, while maintaining DonorsChoose’s high hiring standards
- Manage the hiring process from start to finish, in partnership with internal hiring managers: updating and posting jobs, screen resumes, source candidates, perform first calls, and ensure all stages of the recruiting process are being followed and running smoothly to drive an effective process
- Manage DonorsChoose’s current recruiting platforms & applicant tracking system (we currently use Greenhouse); establish and track candidate experience as top priority
- Learn how the People & Talent team works to cultivate and manage relationships across an array of teams and hiring managers.
Beyond 6 months, you will:
- Continue to act on the priorities above and proactively source candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, and other key eternal relationships and partnerships, including career development platforms
- Thought partner with Senior Manager, Talent and People to maintain, analyze, and refine the efficacy of DonorsChoose’s bilingual hiring processes, including external relationships for multilingual hiring- i.e. language assessment partners, consultants, and more
- Leverage data to identify gaps, patterns, and opportunities within our hiring process in general to develop solutions to achieve hiring outcomes
- Champion DonorsChoose’s employer brand by partnering effectively with internal teams (People & Talent, Marketing, etc.) to build recruiting strategy for open roles, and identifying external opportunities to drive brand awareness.
This role may be perfect for you if you:
- Have 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in both non-technical and technical roles within startups or edtech.
- Bonus points if the experience has been in bilingual (Spanish-speaking) roles
- Familiarity with Puerto Rico hiring landscape is a plus
- Experience operationalizing bespoke hiring processes for new roles
- Have, at minimum, a Professional Working Proficiency in Spanish in speaking, reading, and writing, to be assessed throughout the interview process.
- Have experience engaging hiring managers in conversations around DEI recruiting and retention.

Compensation and Benefits
Our compensation philosophy ensures that we are both externally competitive with tech-forward nonprofits of a similar size and internally fair in our pay practices. The following ranges represent the target offer range given the scope and experience expectations for this role. Please note that DonorsChoose has non-negotiable policy regarding salary offers.
- The hiring salary range for this role is $66,000 - $77,000
- We have a hiring salary range of $73,000 - $85,000 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
Once employees are hired, everyone at DonorsChoose is eligible to receive annual performance-based raises as they grow in their role. Hybrid Workplace and Other Details
In this role, you’ll have the option to work a flexible hybrid schedule in our NYC office, or to work fully remotely from CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, ME, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, TX, VA, WA, WI.
Candidates who are not in the NYC area should expect to travel to our NYC office on an as-needed basis, about 4-6 times per year. All work-related travel expenses will be covered by the organization.
