JOB SUMMARY: Commercial Lines Account Managers are entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining valued client relationships. As such, it is expected that candidates for this position must be proficient in the Account Management process and demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills. This position requires an in depth knowledge of complex insurance coverages and an ability to communicate this clearly to clients and underwriters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to field questions and correspondence from a myriad of sources, including internal and external customers with poise and confidence.
- Inform and educate clients about coverage, exclusions, and exposures.
- Ability to assess and prioritize workload for assigned portfolio.
- Prepare Marketing submissions as required on assigned portfolio and occasionally assist in New Business.
- Work in collaboration with the Commercial Lines Managers and Account Executives to facilitate seamless transition of new accounts.
- Possess advanced understanding of relationship between exposure bases, rates, and premium.
- Negotiate terms and pricing for renewals and additional lines of business for assigned clients.
- Ability to understand, develop and communicate solutions for complex, abstract situations. Exhibit continuing proficiency in this skill.
- Assist the Accounting Department in managing Accounts Receivable for assigned portfolio.
- Ability to learn and utilize the Agency Management System (Applied EPIC) for servicing and documenting client files.
- Exhibit proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
- Respond to clients’ needs by producing binders, certificates, policies, and other related items accurately and on timely basis.
- Collaborate with Producers and accompany them on client visits as needed.
- Ability to recognize when additional resources are needed and collaborate with colleagues and Commercial Lines Manager.
- Participate in seminars and classes for technical and professional skills training and knowledge development.
- Assist with other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Support all colleagues and subscribe to Knapp Schenck Code of Conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5 - 7 years of commercial lines underwriting or account management experience.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience is required
COMPUTER SKILLS: Advance Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents, ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to think critically and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
