What you'll do
The inventory control specialist will be responsible for maintaining WHSE and WIP inventories through receipts, cycle counts, audits, and transacting inventory movements. They will also have the communication skills both verbal and written to maintain inventory communications throughout Hunter Douglas. An employee in this position must be able to perform all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions that the employee may be expected to perform.)
- Conducts scheduled cycles within their team (Warehouse, Fabrication and/or Manufacturing) to ensure overall accuracy of inventory is maintained throughout the year.
- Interact with auditors as a point of contact for the Inventory Control department by providing the necessary demonstrations and documentation.
- Conducts unscheduled cycle counts (back orders, cogi’s, inventory discrepancies, and stock out report, MII remnant correction, and buyer planner request count) and investigate root cause for variances.
- Uses judgment, process knowledge and experience, reaching out to the functional teams, engineering and material set up teams for possible material or process changes before making applicable system adjustments to Warehouse and/or WIP inventory. Requesting approvals for high dollar adjustments and saving all documentation.
- Receives/Investigates all warehouse STO/PO/Drop Ship receipts and short ship investigations to and from WFD. Ensuring that all processes are followed, all materials and labels meet WFD requirements, vendor non compliances and OS&D documents are completed, reversals and corrections are transacted in the time frame allowed and documentation is completed and saved.
- Will be required to communicate verbally and through email with warehouse leads, materials and other HD sites to correct any STO/PO, packing slip, inventory discrepancies and vendor stock discrepancies/corrections.
- Responsible for reversing production receipts through EWM, subsequent adjustments and any back flushing that needs to occur or be reversed.
- Monitors Inbound internal and external deliveries on both EWM and IM sides. Looking for any missed receipts, deliveries created in error, failed EWM deliveries. Communicate with Receiving Inventory Control Specialists, internal and external sites, Materials, Receiving dock and IT to resolve issues.
- Analyze discrepancies within interim bins (GR-ZONE, PRD-ZONE, RCVHOT, MOVING, TEMP, GI-ZONE, ETC.). Determine reasons for variances and make corrections. Direct warehouse personnel in giving physical and forklift assistance if needed during the investigation process. Document your transactions and add to the Root Cause Analysis Reports
- All other duties as assigned
Who you are
Acceptable Training and Experience includes a high school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of prior experience within a multi-task, high volume manufacturing work environment. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderate complex issues and problems, and refers complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and has exposure to the principles of ISO, FOE.
- Basic knowledge of SAP, EWM, IM, MII, ME, COOIS and COGI’s, as it applies to Inventory Control applications.
- Basic Knowledge of BOM’s and routings to discern correct values (ie, scrap, usage, etc..) are loaded in SAP to drive accurate back flushing.
- Basic Knowledge of T-codes, material movement types, material set up and reading the material master.
- Basic knowledge regarding the concepts, business principles, procedures, and practices of inventory control and warehouse management.
- Basic knowledge in Excel and Smart Sheets.
- Basic knowledge of unit of measure verification and correction
- Ability to prepare, schedule and lead a meeting. Keeping the agenda focused to the task on hand, preparing meeting notes, following up on task completion and follow up communications back to Meeting members.
- Ability to correct inventory variances using their judgment.
- Ability to stay current on inventory and materials management processes for the business
