- Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
- Experience in one or more of the following: teaching and learning, student success, or research services.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating multiple staff.
- Strong interpersonal, public communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and creative in handling multiple responsibilities in a changing environment.
- Initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Two or more years of experience leading or coordinating a teaching and instruction team.
- Knowledge of trends and best practices related to information and digital literacy, online learning, active learning, open education, and digital pedagogy.
- Experience with project and program management, development, marketing, and assessment.
- Exceptional ability to foster relationships with faculty and staff.
Texas State University Libraries is seeking an Assistant Director for Curriculum & Instruction. This position provides leadership for the department’s instruction and outreach activities. This role is focused on enhancing engagement with TXST’s faculty, students, and staff by transforming teaching practices to meet the evolving curricular and instructional needs on campus. The position will guide and inform instruction, instructional design, faculty teaching support, and open education initiatives. The incumbent will work with university administration and departmental faculty to build pathways with the goal of integrating library instruction with co-curricular opportunities throughout the university.
Job Duties
- Provides leadership and guidance in visioning, developing, implementing, and analyzing both new and existing instructional services to support the success of Texas State’s undergraduate and graduate students.
- Coordinates, supports, and supervises (both directly and indirectly) the team of librarians and specialists responsible for instruction, student learning, and engagement.
- Develops, implements, and assesses information and digital literacies programming at all levels of the curriculum and micro credentialing programs.
- Builds and maintains relationships with academic and administrative departments.
- Promotes library services, spaces, and resources through instruction and other partnerships.
- Collects data and creates reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
