Workplace Type: Onsite
Purpose
Penasquito needs senior geotechnical design engineer with analytical abilities to conduct comprehensive geotechnical assessments to identify potential hazards and proactively determine mitigation action plans.
The key result is to optimize safety, productivity, and operational efficiency in mining operations through conducting comprehensive geotechnical assessments, developing and implementing slope management plan, integrating geotechnical considerations into designs and operational plans, leading modeling efforts, performing analyses, coordinating consultants, ensuring data quality, and mentoring a team for professional growth.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive geotechnical assessments and analyses including rockfall, run-out, stability, back-analysis and to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Develop and implement geotechnical engineering strategies to optimize safety and productivity in mining operations.
Collaborate with mine planning, operations, and engineering teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into mine designs, production schedules, and operational plans.
Evaluating, selecting and applying standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria
Lead the development of geotechnical models for geotechnical analysis
Perform geotechnical analyses using software appropriate for the task (eg Rocscience Slide2, Swedge, RocPlane, Dips, GEM4D, Trajec3D etc)
Coordinate and manage consultants and third-party geotechnical contractors required for executing the plan/schedule
Develop and update existing geotechnical systems and procedures to bring them into line with current practices.
Ensure Geotechnical data is collected as required/scheduled for the purpose of rock mass characterization (mapping and logging)
Provide QA/QC on all Geotechnical data collection and setup and maintain the databases for this information
Lead and mentor a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support for their technical expertise and professional growth.
Identifying best practice through experience, diverse learning opportunities, and accepting guidance and mentorship of the geotechnical engineers and technicians to prepare for future roles
