Job Summary: The Associate Sports Information Director serves as the primary media contact for the assigned sport(s), working closely with the head coach(s), assistant coach(s), and student-athletes. Serves as the primary daily liaison with the media. Writes and designs media guides. Coordinates player and coach interviews. Produces press releases and game notes.
Additional Department Summary: Makes consistent efforts to present information to the news media and groups including alumni, lettermen, faculty, students and fans in a positive manner with honesty and integrity. Establishes and maintains relationships with local and national media in promoting Crimson Tide athletics.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related athletic/communication degree and two (2) years of experience in a collegiate and/or professional sports communication field; OR Master's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related athletic/communication degree and some experience in a collegiate and/or professional sports communication field.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to form relationships with members of the local and national media. Experience in Adobe software including InDesign and Photoshop, NCAA Genius scoring software, Sidearm, and editing and design of publications and printed materials. Excellent oral and organizational skills. Strong written communication skills. Technical writing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills that foster good relations with coaches, staff, student-athletes and fans/consumers.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in communications, journalism, or public relations preferred.
