POSITION: Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention (2024-2025 School Year)
LOCATION: DSST: Home Office located in Denver, CO
SALARY: Starting at $75,000-$84 with up to six years of aligned experience
STATUS: Full time, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position (Denver, CO); Year by Year role based on continuation of Literacy Intervention program for strategic planning - with guaranteed funding for 2 years (2024-2025 & 2025-2026)

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention will develop & oversee DSST’s literacy intervention vision & programmatic elements across our middle and high schools. Their ultimate charge is to decrease the number of students below grade level in reading and writing.
A core function of the Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention is to support a team of school-based literacy interventionists develop strong literacy intervention programs in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention leads execution of the Tier 2 MS Literacy Intervention Vision and the scope and sequence of the development of school-based Literacy Interventionists
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention partners with Literacy Interventionists to work extensively with students to help them improve specific reading skills such as letter-naming, initial sounds, phoneme segmentation, fluency, and comprehension strategies.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention coaches literacy interventionists on participating in the MTSS process in response to ReadAct and other literacy needs.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention leads the launch of school wide literacy needs assessments at middle schools that have a literacy interventionist.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention monitors literacy intervention programming progress quarterly in conjunction with school directors and the Director of Humanities..
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention reports student progress to stakeholders regularly including literacy interventionists, school personnel, and Home Office senior leadership.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention will also support the development & execution of intervention structures, assessments, and programs across middle and high schools.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention is the network lead for ReadAct Compliance.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention leads DSST’s vision for iReady, alongside their mathematics counterpart.
The Senior Manager of Literacy leads DSST’s MTSS systems & structures in collaboration with the HO Culture & Student Experience Team.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention develops the portfolio of literacy Diagnostic Assessments across Tier 2 and Tier 3.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention manages placement of students based on Diagnostic Assessments and progress monitoring cycles.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention supports response to data for Tier 1 Universal Screeners in reading and math.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention develops the vision for Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention processes using specific programs for closing literacy gaps.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention assists in the evaluation of ongoing interventions programs and makes recommendations for change.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention assists teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in effectively implementing the school tier 1, 2, and 3 reading programs (iReady, Wilson) where there are no literacy interventionists.
The Senior Manager of Literacy Intervention supports the culturally-responsive, anti-bias and anti-racist mission of the school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess additional education and/or credentials in best practices for providing intervention to secondary students.
Bachelor’s degree required;
State Training in the Science of Reading is required (can be done upon accepting position)
At least 2 years experience with school or network level leadership in facilitating professional development
Must have experience in closing student achievement gaps based on response to data
5+ years teaching and/or intervention experience
2+ years having led successful ReadAct campaigns for students and families
Demonstrate ability to strategically plan
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in English, Literacy, Curriculum and Instruction or equivalent preferred
SpEd or ELA-E/CLDE certification preferred
Background with intervention programming and administering diagnostic assessments is preferred
7+ Years Teaching and/or intervention experience preferred
3+ years in ReadAct
