Job Summary
The Assistant General Counsel will support Thornburg’s General Counsel in providing legal advice for all aspects of its investment management business.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze legal and regulatory issues under various U.S. and non-U.S. regulatory regimes and provide effective advice to clients on a wide range of matters related to asset management, including regulatory compliance, investment agreements and fund structuring.
- Work closely with the General Counsel, the Chief Compliance Officer and other stakeholders on initiatives such as registered and unregistered funds and expansion of the firm’s operations in new jurisdictions.
- Work closely with the General Counsel, the Chief Compliance Officer and other stakeholders on development and enhancement of internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance for existing and new products.

- Juris Doctorate or Master of Laws degree from accredited law school.
- Membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
- 4-8 years of private practice, asset management or government agency experience working with the Adviser’s Act and/or the Investment Company Act.
- Knowledge of securities laws, investment regulations, and compliance requirements in the asset management industry.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Sound judgment and strategic thinking with a keen attention to detail.
- Willingness to address a range of tasks with dedication, focus and optimism.
