Primary Purpose:
The Training Specialist provides essential and required training and updates for craft employees, and continuing development in the Mechanical and Engineering Departments. This position implements training and development programs in compliance with Norfolk Southern’s strategic objectives. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required as this position interfaces across all levels within our organization.
Principle duties:
- Perform facility audits across assigned territory to ensure AAR/FRA compliance
- Knowledgeable of the AWS D15.1 Code Book for Welding on Freight Cars and Locomotives
- Knowledgeable of the AWS D15.2 Code Book for Welding on Track and Track Components
- Deliver broad range training programs to increase employee knowledge and skillset development
- Perform Destructive and Non-destructive testing on test weldments
- Must have an extensive background in welding in order to teach and offer solutions
- Maintain records of training programs/participants.
- Efficient in Power Point and Excel
- Provide employee training and development to Norfolk Southern’s Mechanical and Engineering Departments

Job Related Experience:
- Minimum Level: 3-5 years
- Preferred Level: 5-10 years
Education:
- Preferred level: High School Diploma or GED

- Preferred: Certified Welding Inspector
