The Role / Responsibilities:
The Staff Software Engineer is a hands-on engineer who works from design through implementation of standalone features for the MA Platform. In this role you are expected to own components that are serviced and managed within the MA Platform, with the expectation that the candidate will demonstrate and propagate best practices and processes in software development.
He or she can
- Design, code, test, and develop features for our multi-cloud SaaS platform with excellent quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership.
- Experience in performance measurement, bottleneck analysis, and resource usage monitoring
- Significant experience in multi-threading and memory management.
- Excellent debugging skills on multi-tenant cloud environment such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Passion for finding and solving problems.
- Excellent communication skills, proven ability to convey complex ideas to others in a concise and clear manner.
- Experience building quality RESTful APIs using Microservice principles/architecture.
- Develop highly efficient code that scales to thousands of active users by minimizing operational costs.
- Work with all aspects of high throughput, distributed and multi-tenant services on AWS and/or Azure.
- Mentor and grow junior engineers.
Qualifications:
- 5 + years of experience in building and shipping production grade software systems or services, with one or more of the following: Distributed Systems, large-scale data processing, data storage, Information Retrieval and/or Data Mining.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience building and operating online services and fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale.
- Demonstrable experience shipping software, internet scale services using REST API(s) on Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
- 3+ years in cloud service development – Azure or AWS services.
- Proven track record of delivering projects that include multiple components.
- Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to write and debug code which requires good understanding of threading and asynchronous programming fundamentals.
- Data driven approach to solving problems iteratively and measuring success.
- Commitment to collaboration and teamwork and ability to deliver via influence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills (to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels).
- Familiarity with OAuth2.0, SAML 2.0, SCIM, IDP’s such as AWS Cognito , Okta or Azure Active Directory is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Azure EventHub or AWS SNS/SQS.
- Familiarity with big data, data science/analytics, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with event driven architecture.
