The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
The content development internship will work with our Total Health and Well-being department to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization while working directly to create compelling content for our healthy living website.

Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
Internship Duration: 1/21/25-5/2/25
Remote Position
Salary: $23.00 per hour

Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
Research and reporting
Conduct online research to identify external content to curate for business leaders as part of the Well-being Works Better Resource Center.
Participate in our consumer research process to develop messaging and create slides to convey and communicate research results to various internal and external stakeholders.
Create slides summarizing ROI for sponsors.
Conduct analysis across our Healthy Living website and email marketing.
Content creation
Develop promotional resources for various aspects of our business.
Edit materials (e.g., slide decks, one-pagers, etc.) and coordinate review with internal stakeholders.
Support content and asset creation across THWB, with emphasis on growth of workforce tools and resources.
Internal resource and content audit
Work with the AHA Resource Center team to get all of our current Total Health and Well-being field resources posted in a user-friendly way. Many of our resources are scattered across multiple old SharePoint sites.
Update and improve the internal recipe database to ensure ease of sorting and searching.
Administrative support
- Develop materials for meetings (e.g., agenda, compile notes, gather exhibits, etc.
Qualifications
Undergraduate course work in health promotion, content marketing, general marketing, and/or communications .
Effective oral (one-on-one and group; virtual meetings; phone), written (consumer-facing educational resources, email) and presentation communication skills.
Ability to deal professionally in a corporate and non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects from inception through completion.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
