The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.
The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Project Intern in our International Science department. International Science is responsible for representing AHA in global science forums by engaging professional member volunteers and organizing events for science exchange and professional networking.
The work of the International Science team drives integration and innovation across all the international work done by Science Operations, Mission Aligned Business and Advocacy departments.

Internship Overview:
Time Commitment: 25 hours per week
Internship Duration: 1/21/25 – 5/2/25
Location: Remote
Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities
Tasks could include things like the following:
Reporting to International Director of Health Science Programs, our intern will coordinate a cross-functional staff and volunteer project team to plan the Association’s participation in global science meetings and events.
Responsibilities include:
Development and management of project objectives, timelines and budgets, identifying project constraints and developing mitigation strategies as needed.
Manage and coordinate American Heart Association volunteer and staff travel needs associated with meetings and events
Collaborate with other American Heart Association departments to ensure consistent communication of event needs.
Communicate and manage relationships with external society stakeholders and vendors.
Responsible for tracking progress and event outcomes for overall return on investment evaluation.
Qualifications
Seniors and graduate students pursuing a degree in marketing communications, international marketing communications, business analysis, international business, public health, international public health, and similar degree programs.
Must have knowledge and experience with project management.
Must have strong organizational skills, comfortable with creating and enforcing timelines with others.
A highly motivated self-starter who creates opportunity does not wait for direction, and operate with limited management – the intern in this position must be resourceful.
Problem solving and critical thinking.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and strong attention to detail and follow through.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
Ability to work independently and professionally in a corporate environment and assume responsibility for completing projects from inception through final results.
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F within the 8:30am-5:00pm workday
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. As a remote position, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
