We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as the Senior Vice President and Head of Cancer Biology. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Head of Cancer Biology will lead and oversee all aspects of biology and translational sciences within Circle Pharma. This individual will collaborate closely within the organization to drive innovation, ensure alignment with our organizational goals, and foster a cohesive and integrated approach to drug development.
What You'll Do:
- Oversee the full range of biological sciences underpinning our cancer drug discovery programs from new target identification to translational sciences support for clinical programs, including establishing scientific strategies, timelines, and resourcing priorities.
- Collaborate closely with the heads of Discovery Technology Sciences and Early Clinical Development to ensure integration of the company’s biological sciences capabilities at project initiation through to clinical proof-of-concept.
- Drive the development and implementation of translational strategies to optimize the clinical development pathway.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, synergy, and innovation.
- Engage with pharma partners to drive partnered research programs.
- Participate as a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team to drive company strategy, culture, and leadership.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to direct reports, including Vice Presidents, to ensure alignment with Circle’s objectives while nurturing a culture of collaboration, scientific excellence, and a drive for results
About You:
- MD/PhD, or PhD in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field with demonstrated achievements evidenced by patents, publications, and products.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in oncology drug discovery in positions of increasing responsibility, with a track record of advancing programs from early discovery to clinical trials.
- Deep knowledge of cancer biology and oncogenic pathways.
- Strong experience in translational science and biomarkers, spanning research through clinical development.
- Proven leadership experience in a biotech or pharma setting, with demonstrated ability to build, lead and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.
- Comfortable in a small, fast-moving, and growing company environment, driving decisions with a close focus on achieving results.
- Demonstrated success working in a cross-functional, matrixed organization, with a track record of effective collaboration and partnership across disciplines and functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
- Active listener who enjoys operating in an exceptionally dynamic, high-achieving, and cooperative environment where every voice matters.

$310,000 - $365,000 a year
This position is an in-person role based at our facility in South San Francisco. The anticipated salary range is $310,000 to $365,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
