The “Head of Procurement” will be responsible for leading the global procurement function and will play a pivotal role in optimizing procurement processes, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective procurement strategies to support the company’s growth and strategic objectives. This role requires a seasoned procurement professional with a track record of success in strategic sourcing and procurement leadership, including experience in transforming Procure-to-Pay functions across a large organization. The Head of Procurement will be accountable for ensuring the company’s procurement activities align with its overall business strategy and goals, while managing costs and mitigating risk
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for Moody’s, aligning it with business objectives and financial goals. This includes identifying opportunities for cost savings, improving efficiency, and managing risks.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, ensuring a high-performance culture.
- Maintains current knowledge of market trends and provides vision for the direction of the department that aligns to Moody’s mission.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, products, and services to meet the organization’s needs.
- Recommend new products or services that could increase revenue or improve efficiencies
- Lead and coach a team responsible for strategically partnering with business unit leaders and contributing to client strategy by providing procurement expertise and strategic partnering for purchasing opportunities.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Excels in strategic internal and external communications, strategic planning, and business strategy. Presents an executive-level presence.
- Negotiate contracts, agreements, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost savings and quality standards.
- Influence to obtain favorable terms and conditions with suppliers and vendors. This includes being able to balance cost-effectiveness with quality and reliability.
- Develop, manage and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers to ensure efficient operation of the organization’s supply chain
- Work to rationalize the number of vendors Moody’s engages with today
Cost Management:
- Implement cost-effective procurement practices and measures to reduce costs and maximize value for the organization.
- Leverage key metrics to identify problem areas and adopt current and emerging business models with an entrepreneurial mindset and creative approach to drive best practice, optimizing the procurement process for efficiency and cost savings.
- Conduct cost analysis and develop pricing models to ensure best value for the company.

- Conduct cost analysis and develop pricing models to ensure best value for the company.

- Lead and develop a global, high-performing, cohesive procurement team of XX buyers and analysts. This includes setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

- Certification in or equivalent training in Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in procurement
- 7 years’ strategic sourcing experience with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations
- 5 years experience in management and leading cross-divisional teams
- Prior experience with Procure to Pay transformations in large organizations.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $231,400 to $335,500, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or Industrial Engineering.
- Master’s or post-graduate degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
- Certification in or equivalent training in Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in procurement
- 7 years’ strategic sourcing experience with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations
- 5 years experience in management and leading cross-divisional teams
- Prior experience with Procure to Pay transformations in large organizations.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $231,400 to $335,500, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
