Director, Technical Revenue

Databricks is seeking to fill the position of Director of Technical Revenue, reporting to the Sr. Director of Order-to-Cash and Revenue. As the strategic owner driving technical revenue policy at scale, you will foster robust professional relationships with key business partners, external auditors, and the executive team through timely and high-quality communication and guidance. Developing, leading, and executing a global revenue strategy aligned with corporate goals while ensuring compliance with GAAP and operational efficiencies should be your passion. The ability to think critically, to plan, and execute effectively while collaborating across teams and locations will be key to success in this role.
- Exemplify Databricks culture principles and leadership essentials through proactive and strategic execution
- Prepare detailed technical accounting memos to support financial reporting and compliance and liaise with the Company’s external auditors on all revenue-related audit issues
- Primary owner for design, implementation, and management of order to revenue controls to support Sarbanes Oxley compliance
- Become a trusted advisor to proactively partner with key leaders to understand their objectives, processes, and technology roadmaps to develop a revenue roadmap based on prioritized initiatives
- Provide thought leadership, guidance, and strategy on technical revenue recognition policy matters and global processes to assist Commercialization, Marketing and Business Development with new product introductions and new business expansion.
- Work closely with Revenue Assurance, Revenue Accounting, and other functions to ensure accurate revenue recognition interpretations and efficient order-to-cash operations.
- Build, develop, and mentor a matrixed high-performing team that embodies the company's values and culture.
- Primary owner for the quarterly executive readout on accounting policy initiatives to executive staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field
- 15 + years of business experience including 7+ years of accounting experience in revenue or related areas, in accordance with a SOX control framework
- Demonstrated experience of the ability to think strategically as it relates to the detailed aspects of Revenue functions
- Leadership experience to align project goals with organization and sponsor goals, while managing ambiguity, risk, and changing the direction of projects and strategies
- Acute business acumen and understanding of ACS 606 Revenue issues and challenges
- A detailed understanding of consumption-based accounting under ASC 606 and relevant Software and SaaS ASC 606 topics

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
