Sr. Software Engineer - Android - Autonomous Mobility & Delivery
About the Role
The AM&D (Autonomous Mobility & Delivery) team owns the autonomous future of Uber’s Rides and Eats business. As we gradually but surely move towards this future, there are a full spectrum of engineering challenges that need to be tackled. One of them being building the best in class user experience that is safe, informative, trustworthy yet magical.
In order to achieve this, at Uber AM&D, we touch almost all existing experience surfaces Uber provides: from the Uber Rider App, to the UberEats App, to the UberEats Merchant App. Our mission is to make sure the entirety of Uber’s Mobility and Delivery experiences work for the autonomous future before it arrives at scale. For the past year, the team has successfully integrated with some of the most successful Autonomous Vehicle OEMs, enabling successful Mobility and Delivery integrations. From here, we are expecting significant business growth in the near future.
What You Will Do
- Design/architect, develop and/or test mobile applications using Uber's technology stack;
- Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex development/projects and provide recommendations to resolve complex technical issues;
- You'll be very close to business concerns, working alongside Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists and Operations team, to understand what's most important, and translating that to systems, designs, and code that best solves for today, as well as plans for tomorrow
- You will build user-facing products -you will work across rider, driver, eater, merchant apps. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality products with fast iterations. You will have the opportunity to impact the lives of the mobility riders globe and disrupt a trillion-dollar industry. A general eye for business concerns, combined with an acumen for systems that scale will be necessary.
Basic Qualifications
- Strong focus on high-quality mobile UI experiences. Passion about delivering software that delights our end users. Proficiency with UI/UX paradigms to build elegant user experiences.
- Experience in analyzing a feature in production using analytics and experiments
- Experience in collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years hands-on experience with Android development
- Experience in working on customer facing applications in mobility or delivery business.
- Experience in Cross-platform development (iOS and Android)
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
