We are seeking an outstanding Data Engineer to join our team. Amazon has a culture of data-driven decision-making and demands business intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable. Your work will have an immediate influence on day-to-day decision making at Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Data Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. We maintain one of the largest data marts in Amazon as well as work on Business Intelligence reporting and dashboarding solutions that are used by thousands of users world-wide. Our team is responsible for timely delivery of mission critical analytical reports and metrics that are viewed at the highest levels in the organization. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management and business use of extremely large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in a fast paced environment understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions. Above all you should be passionate about working with huge data sets and someone who loves to bring datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.

About the team
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Platform Engineering and Services
AFT’s Platform Engineering & Services team leverages data, process improvement, and innovative technologies to provide comprehensive engineering excellence services/solutions across AFT’s product portfolios.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Knowledge of batch and streaming data architectures like Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, Storm, Beam
- Experience building large-scale, high-throughput, 24x7 data systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
