Position Highlights

The Medical Education Professional III within the Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) is administratively responsible to the PPC Associate Director for the coordination and provision of trainee mentoring, within the context of the nursing discipline services and other educational settings, in consultation with the interdisciplinary Pulmonary Health Care team.

The PPC Medical Education Professional is responsible for recruiting, planning, designing, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating all trainee service elements of the nursing discipline components of the overall PPC program. This role will serve as the nursing prescriptive in the interdisciplinary team. This position will act as a nursing professional and will also serve on national committees in collaboration with other pediatric pulmonary centers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruit and mentor graduate nursing trainees in the field of Pediatric Pulmonary and oversee graduate capstone projects. Attend weekly meetings with faculty and students. 
  • Meet with trainees as needed and discuss nursing curriculum, clinic questions, and didactic lectures. Present lectures, as requested.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the program and their professional associates, academic affiliates, clinical departments, and discipline counterparts in state as well as community programs. 
  • Market program with nursing and other interdisciplinary leaders.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the overall interdisciplinary program. 
  • Meet with faculty members to discuss collaborative projects with each discipline perspective being included.
  • Represent the Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) on national committees and ad hoc committees such as the National Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) Nursing Committee. 
  • Participate and plan events and conferences, such as the School Nurse Conference, which is held annually. Assist with other relevant program events and projects, as assigned.
  • Assist the Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC) with various special events. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated expertise and direct practice in the field(s) of administration, program planning and teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a health care setting with patients and families.
