About the team & opportunity
Ontra is seeking a skilled Senior Manager, Tax to lead our tax function and ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements across multiple regions (federal, state, local, and international). As the senior-most tax professional at Ontra, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our tax strategies while supporting day-to-day tax inquiries.
Reporting to our Controller, you will be responsible for timely and accurate tax filings, determining tax allocations and distributing K-1s for partners, managing the Company's cap table, and overseeing intercompany transfer pricing agreements. You will (1) have primary responsibility for managing Ontra's tax advisory relationship with PwC, (2) inherit one direct report (a Senior Tax Accountant with Big Four experience and Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Accounting), and (3) lead the ongoing growth and management of Ontra's tax function.

What you'll do
- Tax Compliance & Filings: Lead the timely and accurate filing of all state, federal, and international tax returns, including monthly sales tax returns and a high volume of annual K-1s/K-3s
- Strategic Tax Planning: Identify and implement tax efficiency strategies, proactively evaluate areas of tax exposure, and execute on your recommended improvements
- Cap Table Management: Oversee and manage the Company's cap table, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of equity grants and ownership stakes
- Intercompany Transfer Pricing: Develop and maintain intercompany transfer pricing agreements to ensure compliance with international tax and accounting regulations
- Stakeholder Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external tax inquiries, providing expert advice and support, including owning the relationship with our external tax consultants
What you'll bring
- Experience: 6+ years of tax experience, ideally within a Big Four accounting firm, with expertise and hands-on experience with multi-state partnership compliance and international tax
- Management: 2+ years of people management experience
- Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Expertise: Determining income allocation to partners, R&D tax credits, sales and use tax, transfer pricing, foreign entity compliance, and managing equity issuance and cap tables
- Skills: Extreme attention to detail, strong facility with numbers and analytical frameworks, excellent written and verbal communication, self-starter mentality, and strategic thinking capabilities
Pay transparency
Ontra takes individual candidate location, experience, and skills into consideration when determining compensation. The base pay range is listed below. Additionally, all positions are eligible for unit-based equity grants.
Some positions may be eligible for additional compensation, such as commission or other variable compensation structures, which is not included in the below base pay range.

$144,000 - $216,000 USD
